Tsonga has now withdrawn from events for 3 weeks in a row and is apparently a doubt for Wimbledon. Monfils also injured himself today in Halle and is a serious doubt for Wimbledon. On the other hand the ever delightful Gilles Simon showed that he too knows a thing or two about playing grass court tennis by beating Milos Raonic at Queen's.
Not British Davis Cup but supposedly Tomic won't play for Australia because there's a big rift with the Aussie tennis federation (as they're refusing to fund Sara).
Shame (maybe? in some ways?) that we couldn't really lay claim to the Tomics - maybe a bit of British blood somewhere ?????
I see that Klein has entered the Winnetka challenger during the second week of Wimbledon. That certainly suggests that he isn't expecting to be involved in the Davis Cup.
Well tennis in England is a bit like cricket it does not matter how good you are if your face does not fit your left in the cold
Given his injuries, and lack of grass court practice, if ever he lost today (which is certainly possible) it would be very interesting to see what the French Davis Cup team does.....
Ward was always a short head in front, and given the win today is a clear pick now. Glad he took advantage of his good fortune.
Team will be Murray A, Ward, Murray J, and Inglot
Unless the Marray.Nielsen lightening strikes again
I fancy Wardy might get the pick ;). To be fair I always thought it was a dead cert anyway, but he was doing a good job of trying to say don't pick me.
