Fantastic to reach the semis! Missed all of it but absolutely delighted with the result.

Would the o2 be a possibility for the semis? Aside from the fact it's by far the most convenient for me, it's also the best indoor arena in the UK. Or centre court with the roof shut?

Which tournament are you at ? The Portugal Futures this week are in Castelo Branco which is near Lisbon ?

Vale do Lobo resort is a great place. Was down there earlier in the year watching Futures.

Great result that's from an Englishman delighted that two Scotsman won it for Great Britain. Andy likely to have a lot of Tennis to play in the semis unless Wardy can win a Match on a Friday! Such a shame that the venues available for the semis are so small, and thanks to the Traveling French fans, no away end and you are left with half the atmosphere. A great day for British Tennis and fitting finale to the British grass court season!

Yes, agree, I had been thinking just that, that it was very fitting to win this Davis Cup QF on grass to conclude what I reckon has been overall a rather good grass court season for the British men.

I am certainly more encouraged than I was a few months ago and hopefully some of this form can be translated to other surfaces.

Re Davis Cup venues the O2 would certainly be good for a final, if available, jumping a stage or two again

Had a fantastic weekend at DC - Andy put in an immense effort today to get past Simon, when he (Andy) was clearly very tired and metronomically accurate Simon wasn't the nicest opponent to have under those circumstances. Some of us from the, er, louder sections of the crowd were lucky enough to get invited to a spectator reception after the event at which both Cathie Sabin and Leon Smith gave very nice speeches. Talking to someone else from the LTA, I got the impression that Manchester might be the 'wild card' option for the semi-final if they didn't play it in London or Glasgow. I imagine they won't play it in London, given that if GB and Argentina both manage to win their semis, London would be the obvious place for the Final (or maybe I'm just biased! LOL) and the QF has just been played in London.

That might turn out to be a complete red herring though and even if Manchester was included in the provisional SF venues they'd have had to give the ITF before the QF was played (and, to be clear, nobody said Manchester was one of those provisional venues), they can still play it somewhere completely different. Anyway, with only two months to go before the semis, we should know soon enough.

So pleased that I managed finally to put a face to your name and also to be reassured that you are 'safe and sound'. By the way, I think the 'champion of which game?' was something that came up on the Rusedski fan forum years ago. Thanks again for all your input and also to the many others who continue to update this site. Greatly appreciated and read just about every day by me even if I don't often sign in.

Congratulations to the GB team - and especially to the Murrays - for an amazing win. From what I've seen of the French reaction (though CD will have seen more), it's very much that Andy Murray is a champion and there's not much you can do about it. "Depth isn't everything" Our players haven't won GSs and sooner or later are going to run up against a top player who can beat them, "Respect for Murray" the order of the day. The only one who seems to be beating himself up a bit is Mahut, who is unhappy that he was outplayed by the elder Murray and feels he failed to work well enough with Tsonga.

Wonderful work - such commitment and such excellence are a rare gift. A champion indeed, and such a fine team overall (players - those who played and those who supported, coaches, team spirit ... and fans!) And while Kazakhstan might have been preferable in many ways, could you hope for a better set of opponents, in terms of sheer fight and the fun of the tie, than Australia?! Bring on the semis!

Just checked the last time we played at home in the last four of the Davis Cup. It was in October 1978 (when it was called Round 1 of the Inter-zonal playoffs, the World Group not starting until 1981) and GB beat Australia 3-2 (winning all of the first three rubbers) on indoor carpet at, of all places, Crystal Palace, before losing to the US in the Final.

Aww LOL ... well, one last one for now before I get back to work then - this quarter century may already have been mentioned (in which case, apologies!) but I forgot to check before I went yesterday and wasn't sure enough to tweet this immediately after the match ...

Yesterday's win against Gilles Simon was Andy's 25th singles win in a row against French players in best of 5 set matches, i.e. since losing to Tsonga at the 2008 Aus Open. That must be why I didn't feel too worried even when he was a set and a break down (and apparently out on his feet) yesterday!
