Eden comes through a very topsy turvy match to claim her first WTA top 300 scalp, taking out the 2nd seed - really well done! It doesn't get much easier in R2 though ...

L32: Eden Silva WR 638 beat (2) Sofiya Kovalets (UKR) WR 267 (CH 243 last Sep) by 6-4 4-6 6-2

L16: Eden Silva WR 638 v Dalma Galfi (HUN) WR 582 (CH 577 last week; 16yo junior WR 4)

I was about to say that knocking out the second seed, should give you an easy passage, but that's a tough draw to come up to.

Very well done, Eden.

Great to get such a CH win on top of her general upward progress.

She will certainly be the underdog again against Galfi, but it would be tremendous if she yet had a superb birthday this coming weekend - she turns 19 on Saturday.
