I was about to say that with that win, Freya will get a SE into the main draw next week, but it looks like she may have got in automatically now anyway.
Freya didn't take a single break point until number 14; she really could have won this. Which is very encouraging. Her opponent won a round at the Oz Open just gone.
She should be up to a new career high, at around 790, when the WTA gets round to it. Number 20 on the British list; and 3rd ranked junior in the senior ranks behind only Brogan and Taylor.
Good to see her catching up with Wallace and Brogan - they could make a good travelling group. Surprised they haven't teamed up and played some doubles - Freya in particular has really excellent junior doubles results.
Following on from wimbledont's point, I was assuming that the girls (all four) were traveling together as an LTA-funded group? With coach, and as part of their LTA programme?
I then realised that I hadn't really stopped to question this, just assumed it.
They are out with Mark Taylor from Nottingham, which is where Freya is based. Anna is based in the US, Harriet at JTC, Izzy is out in Spain.
No idea if this is LTA funded or the players are tagging along, but I notice that they are all planning a stop off in Thailand after the three weeks in China.
