VM decides he is going to try after all.  He blasts the ball past Ed on 4 successive occasions to break to 0 and make the score 4-1.

Only for Millot to recover one of the breaks! hmm  4-1*...

And Millot retires.

Well done, Ed. Great showing so far. Really playing Challenger level tennis. So good to see.

Ed wins by retirement.

What happened?

And after a tremendous returning game, VM  decides to retire.   Not sure what he was thinkinmg.  It was a "spaced out" display from him.  I didn't notice any problem with his movement.  I  think he retired with brain fade.....

At least 8 precious points & 730 in the bag. smile

Yes.. Didn't see the final hand-shake either. But probably thought he'd finally hit a few good shots so might as well stop there, while the going was good, before it got embarrassing again. Agree with steveM - his head seemed all over the place . . .

well played by Ed.

seemed to remember Vincent retiring before - it was against James Ward in Lexington - in fact he retired 5 times last year. so maybe some kind of injury - I don't know.

but very well done to Ed :)

NB I know that Millot became a father (for the first time, I'm pretty sure) a couple of weeks ago. And hasn't been playing much because of that.

So may well have genuinely had his head in a completely different place.

So, hoping he;s not injured, just rather baby-minded at the moment. A little girl, called Victoria, we're told - congrats to all (mother, father, baby - and Ed )

Liam's still in the draw. No reason why he won't fly down later and play tomorrow. I'm sure the LTA will pay all costs as he is working with DC.

Well he is likely to have costs either way. If he doesn't turn up in Quimper he is likely to be fined for a late withdrawal.

He's tweeted saying he's staying in Glasgow.
