Evans is also on the Wirral list, currently in qualifying but should make the main draw.

Not sure why Willis didn't stay on in France for Cherbourg and Quimper after an encouraging loss in Marseille quals

Yes, Spud, on the face of it, that did seem a natural way to go for Marcus.

I guess that there are whys and wherefores as to why he didn't.

I agree. Given that Marcus is the only player (that I know of) who - at of last info on this forum - actually has 25k a year to travel and subsidise his winnings, he seems singularly loathe to travel and to try and up the ante.

The two Northern France challengers were part of the original plan I believe(I'm sure Gary posted something to that effect).

I'm going to try and get down to Wirral on the Tuesday as I have never seen Evo play live(I think he will make main draw). If the final has potential interest i.e GB player then I may rearrange plans and go

I would have gone to qualifiers as I would have liked to have seen Evan Hoyt again and a few of the youngsters, but I committed to helping at another sporting occasion.

Yes, I seem to remember that too. (and see 'rant' on British Tour thread - maybe unjustified but, hey . . . ).

Enjoy Wirral - let us know, if you have time, what you see.

A quick question on protected rankings.

Lisa W used her protected ranking to enter here, but has had to withdraw due to shoulder problems. Does this count as one of the tournaments or can she use them again.

If she is out for sometime can she still use her original protected ranking or does she get to use her new ranking as protected?

Why would she want to "get" to use her new ranking when its outside the top 1000? If you mean does it reset the answer is no. But regardless you have to be within a certain ranking to have it protected. It might be top 300 actually but id need to double check sorry.

So she will keep her existing pr which is just inside the top 300 and it doesnt count if you enter a tournament and withdraw (so also Laura's entry into Indian Wells doesnt count as she withdrew from that one).

Bit odd to use it for a 10k but maybe she doesn't want to have to go through qualies every week. She could use it to sneak into some WTA qualies but cost will be a major factor in her scheduling once shes fit again

Naomi C has withdrawn from Norway

Jonny O'Mara has also withdrawn from Wirral - I don't think he has played for some time ....

He played in the Sutton British Tour event a couple of weeks back, and certainly didn't seem to be injured or anything. Not sure at all what he's doing or his plans are though . . .

Dan Cox has not stayed on for the 2nd week in China. A bit surprised but I guess there can be many reasons.
