Week 8 - ITF ($10K) - Antalya, Turkey - Clay

For some reason, Tara is down to play the doubles here, but not the singles . . .

She's playing with one of her best tennis friends, Malin Ulvefeldt, who has been out for 8 months or so, so maybe it was just a chance to get together after maybe not seeing each other for a while.
For differing reasons, they could probably both do with seeing a friendly face on tour at the moment.

Or forgot to sign in or schedule confusion etc.

R1: Moore/Ulvefeldt (GBR/SWE) vs. Aponasenko/Milovanovic (RUS/SRB)

On the final weekend Saturday (!), Tara gets to play her first doubles match - and wins 6-3 6-4

(NB It's actually a QF as they got a BYE in the first round but all the same . . .)

If you didn't know any better you'd almost see it as one of those scorelines where they agreed to split sets and then started playing for the result in the MTB. Hope there wasn't any money on it.

It had struck me that the opponents certainly may have been saving themselves in the second set.

When I posted the QF result and SF match-up they had just completed their QF win with a second set TB.

Tara and partner's QF result was already up before they started their QF and since it was the one QF result showing on the ITF site, I would have actually thought it was played yesterday ( although CD maybe knows differently ).

So, it strikes me as very possible that the opponents at a fairly early stage just decided to let the second set go and concentrate on winning the MTB.

Absolutely, it is a completely plausible scoreline for many reasons, and without a suspect betting market on the match, there's nothing to suggest any truth in my comment. Just that it would be a very safe way of pulling something like that off. In actual fact if they were up to no good they would probably make it less obvious.
