Tessah is the 16 year-old who beat Salas (see above) in the semis of the U16 nationals and went on to win the title. (It's presumably a federation trip).
She came through qualis and made the ITF 10k semis last week. She's a strong girl, serious, has done lessons by correspondence through secondary school, trained by her dad (ex-champion of Madagascar, and whole of Africa), with support and help, naturally, from the FFT - they offered to take her at INSEP (one of the elite federation junior academies) but I think her dad said 'no' and set up a foundation to raise funds and awareness so she could stay at home (she comes from the very south-west and didn't really want to go to Paris, I think).
A good tip for the future.
PS - have just seen The Optimist's post - absolutely.

NB Also a shame that Fran didn't manage to get that first set and win more easily. No reason to doubt her fitness but it's never ideal to play two matches in one day when your opponent is only playing one (Tessah played yesterday, taking out the fourth seed very easily). Don't know quite how much rest time she'll get (Fran, that is).
