No surprise they lost - they nearly did it again, but cannot justify wins based on their first round effort.

It would've been one that got away for their opponents if J&A had taken that MP in the MTB as J&A had saved a lot of BPs along the way; not making it 4-4 in the second was a vital moment; thought they might just sneak it though :(

I'm not surprised given how poor they were yesterday, but that's still a pretty terrible result against two players who lack any real pedigree in singles or doubles. Bit of a shocker to get broken from 40-0 at *3-4 but these things happen and they got out of jail plenty of times throughout the match so I guess things evened out. Shame they couldn't completely steal the match with the match point they had but not to be.

Huge missed opportunity for big points to start giving them a real shot at making the French on their rankings which has to be the immediate goal for them as a pair, but hopefully they will perform significantly better next week. They'll know better than anyone that they've underperformed in their two matches here, but plenty of time to work on things and keep getting better smile

Still, should sneak into the top 90 now, and lots of exciting times ahead for these two I have no doubt biggrin

Bah.

They should have been given a message before the MTB that Heather had retaken the GB no 1 spot again ( which she hadn't really ) so needed put back in her box again.

I thought it was tough scheduling, playing late yesterday then early today, but even taking that into account after struggling yesterday I thought they would come out much stronger today. They probably did play a bit better but they were up against a much stronger pairing today. Not a scratch pairing but one who had teamed up together before to reach the semis of a 100k last year on clay. Hsu had recently won a 50k challenger as well. They played well on clay last year, but it's always going to be tougher on this surface. I'm sure it's just a blip on their way into the top 50.

Hadn't realised the massive disparity between the prize money on the WTA tour compared to the ATP tour for doubles, basically the winner takes home 3 times as much at a mens ATP250 event than the winner here. So it is imperative that the ladies get into the slams where the prize money is equal.
