Well, M. Muller looks like he's recovered - beats Dimitrov in two sets :)

(well done, Jamie D)

And got the job done in an hour & 25 minutes this time (the match against Goffin lasted two hours & 13!)

The fourth seeds having an off day?  It looks as though they were barely at the races!

QF:  Dom Inglot & Florin Mergea (ROU) CR 65 (46+19) defeated (4) Rohan Bopanna & Daniel Nestor CR 31 (26+6) by 1 & 3 in just over 46 minutes!  biggrin

*****

SF:  (LL) Jamie Murray & John Peers CR 73 (36+37) vs Dom Inglot & Florin Mergea (ROU) CR 65 (46+19)

Dom and Florin won more than 2/3rds of the points (meaning the 4th seeds were a bit lucky not to suffer double bakery)

The SF is a rematch of a semi-final in Kuala Lumpur last year, which Jamie and John won in straight sets.

Dom Inglot is gonna find himself at world No 1 soon at this rate.

These two have forged an interesting partnership given their different playing styles. It's good Inglot has a partner with whom his own game has been able to develop so positively which is something that I think Johnathan Marray lacked.

May be in the doubles race, but not the rankings for a while. Too many mandatory zeros at present.

If Dom and partner beat Jamie and partner, I make it that Jamie will have advanced a bit this week and Dom will almost have caught him ( with the final still to come ), both probably in the lowish 30s of the rankings.

It would be :

Jamie : 1940 + ( 180 - 90 ) = 2030
Dom : 1765 + ( 300 - 45 ) = 2020

On the other hand, of course, the VLL could push further ahead.

Certainly, at this very early stage in the year, both their partnerships will continue to look good in the race.

Good to see after the general GB doubles reversals of last year.

the semi-final looks an interesting match, both aware of the DC approaching. would Dom and Jamie work well together? have they played together? I don't know that much about who's played with who or who works with who. I know Dom and Jamie both have their own partners now but is it possible for them to enter a tournament together to see how they get on?

So it's one win and one loss each in the round robin set of 3 matches involving the 3 full or partial British pairs. Generally pretty close matches too, but it's the VLLs that make the final, well done them. Now win it!

They proved they were more than capable of beating Rojer & Tecau in Brisbane last month.  The third seeds were the top seeds there, but Jamie & John beat them by 3 & 4 in the first round on their way to taking the title.  wink

Good luck Jamie and John! Got to say I fancy their chances today, feels like it's going to be their week.

Early break in the first set consolidated and they lead 4-1.
