This is becoming more and more like a Davis Cup spot playoff by the day.

Does anyone know if Leon is there?

Doesn't matter. The person whose opinion counts for the most will be there.

The OoP is showing J Murray/Peers in place of A Murray/Muller as LL. Any confirmation?

The live draw section on ATP live scores says the same so I think you can take it as confirmed.

Atp live score shows it, while it didn't show it 20 minutes ago.

That looks like Andy giving his place to his brother.

That's also what's showing in the live schedule & the PDF version of the draw, so I've amended my original post accordingly.  I sincerely hope they make it count!

It gives the reason for withdrawing as Muller-'Illness' ... which I'm sure was just a way of getting Jamie in, especially after Muller posted a big first round win in the singles

Do players have to prove they're ill/injured in order to withdraw from an event or is it as easy as just telling the organizer?

Lets see if he gives a walkover in the singles for R2 then?

So if Colin and Jonny win the FQR, what's the chances of - "Hey Bro, fancy dropping out and letting the real doubles players play?"

Or perhaps quod non erat totum demonstrandum.

I'd be rather inclined to suspect that it's a combination of things, including Muller being exhausted. I was working late last night, and couldn't believe when I saw that the Muller/Goffin match was still on. It looked like a bit of a ding-dong. No idea when it finished, but it was after midnight their time. I did wonder at that point whether Muller would be available for doubles today. In a tournament when you have to play every day (if you're doing singles and doubles) that would be a really tough schedule, and if he felt any twinges or "under the weather"at all, it would make sense to withdraw from doubles as a precaution. It wouldn't hurt that the beneficiary would be his partner's elder brother, but I'd guess it was more than just that.

My first reaction was "Andy helping big brother out again then" but the impetus to withdraw might well have come from Müller under the circumstances - indeed, if you have to withdraw and risk annoying your partner, being able to say "but at least it means your brother, who actually needs the points, will get in" must sweeten the pill quite a lot!

And John & Jamie take full advantage of their stroke of good fortune:

R1:  (LL) Jamie Murray & John Peers CR 73 (36+37) defeated Roberto Bautista & João Sousa (ESP/POR) CR 310 (229+81) by 3 & 4  smile

They won't have such an easy ride in the QF, though:

QF:  (1) Julien Benneteau & Edouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA/FRA) CR 12 (5+7) vs (LL) Jamie Murray & John Peers CR 73 (36+37)

well done to the J's!
Out of curiosity, if Bautista and Sousa are ranked so far below the J's, how come they were in the main draw and the J's had to go through qualies? (Sorry - there is probably a very straightforward reason!)

They're using their Singles rankings (16+46) to get in to MD the Doubles tournament.
