In response to my own question. There are 3 pairs involving British players at Marseille. Jamie + John Peers ; Dom + Florin Mergea ; Colin + Jonny. The Skupski's are first alternates on the entry list.

I could be so tempted to make the trip again. Just don't think I will be able to get away for long enough.

Damn. Now I REALLY want to go.  Arrive home from Brazil 6pm Friday evening and would have to jump in the car at 8am Sat morning for the 10 hour drive to Marseille.

Do I or don't I ?

Let's put this out to public vote.  Do you guys want to see an appearance from "Bob in France" ?

That is definitely one of the more polite things I have been called biggrin

Stuck over here in Brazil, I have missed my tennis so much, I need to make best use of the three weeks back in Europe and get to see/play as much tennis as I can.

I feel deeply ashamed for deciding it was too much hastle for me to travel through from Edinburgh to Glasgow for the Glasgow Challenger and women's 25K !

( even Scotrail usually manage that in a tad under 10 hours ! )

Just a nip around the corner really, compared to Umag for the DC.  That was 21 hours each way, plus stops. My start point is just south of Alicante.

I did Marseille last year and enjoyed it as there was plenty of GB talent on show. As well as the doubles guys, Kyle, Wardy and Evo were playing singles.

Would love to give Willbomb some support, but I will need him to get through 1st round of qualies. I doubt I will arrive in time to see any play on Saturday, so if I do go Marcus, I need you to do your part and get at leat one W under your belt - and preferable a few more to go with it.

I am still trying to kid myself that I haven't really made my mind up yet, but deep down, I know I'm going. smile

The original main draw cut off was 56, so qualifying is bound to be loaded and bearing that you have to win a couple of matches to pick up points, it's going to be a difficult challenge.

Anyone know when the OOP is out. It will affect the time I set off this evening.

According to ATP rules - qualifying sign in is 7pm to 9pm local time

So I would expect the draw to be out 8.30- 9pm UK time.

Looking at the prize money and cost of travelling for Marseille, it's not a bad option financially if you get a good first round draw.

It will probably cost £200-£300 to get there plus a hotel room so say £300-£400 cost max

No prize money of you lose, but $465 for a win and $975 for two wins.

So you will not be far off breaking even if you win your opening round.

Milts and Smethurst also in qualifying. So a whole host of Brits around.

Draw is out.
