Katy wins 7-5 6-4 moving nicely up the rankings now into the low 280s. I think I'm right in saying if she somehow won here its be the golden 250 position

Yes, it certainly looks as if Katy would go top 250 on Monday week if she won the title here.

I understand though that the LTA have indicated that their golden Wimbledon MD WC recommendations will now be based on top 200.

Two good results there.
Sirotkina. like Pirazhenka, is a frequent visitor t these shores and perennial Brit Basher. Naomi's overturned a bad H2H, despite the rankings, there.
Good to see both her and Katy pick up a little bit, hopefully at least one of them can make it to the weekend at least.

Indiana i saw that statement in the Daily Mail about the wildcard recommendations, i dont know if i believe it, as long as our top girls are pushing for that top 230-250 then i think they should be given a wildcard. Dont get me wrong i kind of agree we need to set a bench mark but i think its good at the minute.

Congrats to Naomi and Katy

Tara and Conny have won their doubles QF (against Freya and partner), 6-2 6-4 (Tara and Conny play together often in French league tennis).

Stumbled across this forum.

As a tennis enthusiast and follower of juniors transitioning into senior game, I must say I am impressed with the progress of some of our juniors mentioned here. Have come across Freya and how she plays. Good steady progress from her. She has a big game with lots of potential.

Naomi was night and day from yesterday, played well especially in the period of games to come back and take he first set. She came through a couple of really long games in the second and ended quite easily.

Freya could easily have won today, played well but then tightened horrible at 5-5 particularly in the second set where she was 40-15 up then hit 4 poor shots. She battled hard in the last game saving 3 match points against a Pliskovas who was terrified of the finish line, but couldn't break.

Katy was outstanding. Her opponent started poorly but played her way into the match, and a Katy had to really dig in deep. Looks like letting it slip but played a very nice game at 5-4 to close out.

I'm sure you will be interested to know that the infamous Mamma Julie isn't here, and Jeremy and David Felgate were around either today, so Katy's cheering squad consisted of me.

I can't go tomorrow so if she looses it's clearly because I am her lucky charm.
