Disappointed in that one from Harriet.

doubles draw is a bit sparse...

Main draw just out - 1 guaranteed GB player into rnd 2

Ugh - Lisa gets the top seed, and Naomi will play Tara.

Katy gets Voracova, Maia plays Zander, Izzy plays Paquet and Freya will play Mikulic.

So as usual, the Brits with probably the most chance of winning get the worst draws.

Tara v Naomi is a stinker, but at least someone is getting 5 points. Given how much of a mess their last recent meeting was, could be a long one!

As Paul says, the Brits who you'd think have the best chance of winning a 25K R1 match have got the toughest draws - had the opponents been switched around a bit, this might not look too bad. You could argue, though, that on current form, having Naomi draw Tara is the best way of ensuring that one of them gets to R2.

L32: (WC) Lisa Whybourn UNR v (1) Maryna Zanevska (UKR) WR 118 (CH 107 in 2013)
L32: (WC) Maia Lumsden UNR v Nina Zander (GER) WR 358 (CH 279 last Aug)

L32: Katy Dunne WR 295 v (4) Renata Voracova (CZE) WR 168 (CH 74 in 2010)
L32: (WC) Francesca Stephenson WR 599 v Pernilla Mendesova (CZE) WR 288 (= CH)
L32: (Q) Isabelle Wallace WR 683 v (Q) Chloë Paquet (FRA) WR 402 (= CH)

L32: (3) Naomi Broady WR 170 v Tara Moore WR 355 - H2H 2-1, Naomi in 2 in 2009/13, Tara in 3 last year

L32: (WC) Freya Christie WR 995 v Ema Mikulcic (CRO) WR 272 (CH 250 last Oct)

A blank line indicates a new quarter of the draw.

To be honest, I think Tara v Naomi is a result - neither girl can buy points for love nor money at the moment, and the next round is not the worst (although not easy either), so at least one girl (as you say) will get 5 points and will get a fairish chance at another win.

Shame for Lisa . . .

Will be curious to see what Freya and Izzy can manage.

Fran is also there, playing Mendesova who Freya came close to beating last week and who got beaten easily by Amy Bowtell, so there's a chance for Fran.

Izzy I think has the best chance of the other girls, but Katy, Freya and Fran must have chances if they are at their best.

Maia's opponent, Zander, has lost half a dozen singles matches in a row...

Surprised that Maia is not playing doubles. Her junior doubles results, when not hampered by partnering Katie, have been excellent.

Freya, who has also done very well in junior doubles, won her first round match comfortably, guaranteeing at least one UK semifinalist, as she plays Tara's team next.

This win should take her up from her current doubles ranking of 934 (CH933) to around 780.

Mai was 1-4 down and has got it back to 3-4.

Lisa is 'on break of serve' - 5 games, 5 breaks . . .

add: actually the ITF stats make no sense . . .

Lisa 2-3*

Maia 3-4*
