As Paul says, the Brits who you'd think have the best chance of winning a 25K R1 match have got the toughest draws - had the opponents been switched around a bit, this might not look too bad. You could argue, though, that on current form, having Naomi draw Tara is the best way of ensuring that one of them gets to R2.
L32: (WC) Lisa Whybourn UNR v (1) Maryna Zanevska (UKR) WR 118 (CH 107 in 2013) L32: (WC) Maia Lumsden UNR v Nina Zander (GER) WR 358 (CH 279 last Aug)
To be honest, I think Tara v Naomi is a result - neither girl can buy points for love nor money at the moment, and the next round is not the worst (although not easy either), so at least one girl (as you say) will get 5 points and will get a fairish chance at another win.
Shame for Lisa . . .
Will be curious to see what Freya and Izzy can manage.
Fran is also there, playing Mendesova who Freya came close to beating last week and who got beaten easily by Amy Bowtell, so there's a chance for Fran.
Freya, who has also done very well in junior doubles, won her first round match comfortably, guaranteeing at least one UK semifinalist, as she plays Tara's team next.
This win should take her up from her current doubles ranking of 934 (CH933) to around 780.
