If Evans plays as in actually plays can't see any reason why he can't qualify and win the title here from looking at the main draw direct acceptance list

Good to see some boundless optimism.

One can say lots of things about Mr Evans "on paper". In practice, there are a myriad of known reasons why they often turn out differently in practice, plus a good few reasons that Dan probably hasn't thought up yet.....

Why will it will be different this time ?

thats why i said as in actually plays/tries. I think he might pull his finger out this week though - its a challenger not a futures and he must be somewhat aware that he has 90+ points to defend this week. Nobody for him to be scared of in the draw so why not just go out and win it.

(qeue qr1 defeat)

No seeds left in top bracket, so half a chance for Joe or Luke to progress.

Joe won 6-4 3-6 6-2 and plays Arvidsson in next round.

Apart from the many fit and onform reasons why Evo might not win the title here, I have severe doubts as to whether at the moment Evo is fit enough or his tennis yet good enough again to be able to win it.

Nice idea though.

It's Evo, so frankly who knows what is going to happen. Anything from winning the tournament to failing to qualify is possible. The prospect of being ranked outside the top 600 might be so jarring to his ego that it results in something positive.

Evo won 2&3
Bambo beat Dave Rice 7-6 7-6 and play Rosenweig next

Marcus is a set and a break up on JWH
Milts is an early break up

Alexis and Bruce about to start.

Just Marzi to get on court.

Nice victory for Luke, versus Dave Rice,, in two tie-breaks - both of them 'deserved' a victory, really, hope it boosts Luke's confidence . . .

Marcus nicely up on JWH - 6-2 3*-2

Josh M 3-1 up too

NB ditto - paulisi got there first :)

Bruce took the first set against Alexis 7-5

Joe S second round match is up next. Marzi hasn't even started his first round yet. Will be a long day...

Wont be as long as in Zagreb yesterday. 16 matches played on just 2 courts. Started at 10:00AM and finished around midnight.
