RE: Week 5 - Challenger (€42,500) - The Scottish Championships, Glasgow (indoor hard)

I think we would all like to see more emma. Whats interesting, is that the results have been good despite our GB 2, 3 and 4 playing abroad when on another day, they might have taken part. The British schedule for after the grass is not set yet, I am hoping this may encourage the LTA to at the very least stage one more in the latter part of the year.

Yes, could do with something after the grass court challengers, which are liable to be pretty rammed with relatively high ranked players preparing for Wimbledon.

And that something not more grass please.

I really don't know who decides to put the challengers on in Britain but I do hope they put on more. The results have shown that there are many British players who are able to compete at this level. 4 men in the second round and 2 in the QF's is excellent.

Apart from Wimbledon and a few other tournaments, unless you have sports channels, there's not much opportunity to watch and follow the British players. It is so good to be able to watch the matches on the Challengers channel and feel a part of what is going on with other British tennis players. It would be lovely to have a commentator too like in America with Mike C.

So thank you that we've had this challenger in Glasgow and definitely more please (if possible) :)

well said !

Hopefully there won't be a rush for higher ranked players now there's the extra week between the French and Wimbles

I was just thinking that Ed reminds me of Dan!

yeah, exactly. And it's not just the game. They even look alike ! Ed's got a few extra inches (not tricky) but they're spittin' images smile Maybe it's a Gosling thing . . . like ending up looking like your dog smile

Also, specific congrats to Luke and Joe.

That's Luke's highest points for a double performance (by far). Joe's second highest.

and for both of them, (and key), it's the first time they've ever scored points outside of an ITF 10/15k.

As emmas says to the LTA: 'If you build it, they will come' (or words to that effect).

Good luck in the semi, lads.

Cox up on the livestream (centre court.) Looks as though there is a school group in to spectate which is good to see.

Mr Salisbury is underranked. And Mr Bambridge has always seemed a top-notch doubles player. Good to see them moving forwards. Now for the all-GB singles semi ...

Dan is an early break up 3-1*

For anybody who is interested I believe there is a two page spread in the Lincolnshire Echo about him today about his problems mentally. Article will be online soon I'm told.

Great to hear some cheers form the stands.

And great to have something to cheer about !

Dan up two breaks now. 4*-1.

(mind you, the Kazakh lost the first set before and came back strongly to win in three . .. )

Dan looked the better player that set. Hitting clean off both sides and not missing much. Lots of UEs from the Kazakh who appears to be getting very frustrated. Expect the second set to be a tighter affair but great set of tennis from Dan to start

I love watching Dan. Reminds me a little bit of Ferrer... although not quite as good

They're trading breaks at the moment:  Dan lost the first break & got it back, only to lose it again! hmm  Now 4-3*...
