Hi Bob Marcus just sent me a picture of him in action on court looking fitter than he's been since his junior days will do wonders for this confidence if can see the hard work paying off .
playing higher ranked challengers definitely way to go
1) play higher ranked foreign players
2) uk futures tournaments packed with Brits means match ups/knowing your game eliminates element of surprise particularly
3) chance to raise your game against stronger opponents
4) greater points opportunities
The only downside to challengers as option to futures is the generally higher cost of getting to foreign challengers

the other downside is that he will still have to qualify as his ranking isn't high enough yet and you get no points or prize money if you don't get through....
I did not get a chance to speak to Marcus in detail about schedule but definitely a number of french challengers , and maybe you guys will have a view on the easier challengers to qualify ? What about china easier or as tough as anywhere .
Key going to be achieving a ranking where straight into main draw what's that going to be for most challenger events ?
LTA Reducing player bonus's but more UK challenger events would be a welcomed trend !

PS: In singles, that makes 6 Challenger R1 wins so far this week and at least 2 Challenger QF-ists (Kyle plus a Dan), along with the R1 ATP 250 R1 win for Wardy, not forgetting some impressive GB wins in qualifying in Dallas (Cam) and here too!

And three out of four of them in line to be the first this year to touch that sacred, holy pot - the LTA bonus fund. (One guaranteed taker, with the match of the two Dans; Ed 'too old' though . . . )

The French challengers are Cherbourg and them Quimper on 23/02 and 02/03
The weaker challengers are where people don't want to travel i.e eastern Europe, Australia(distance) and far flung destinations. I'd be tempted to stay away from the far east as there are a lot of under ranked players as the Asia guys don't tend to travel far.

Cherbourg and Quimper challengers week 8 and 9 in Brittany both indoor hard.
With regard to main draw cut off for challenger it can vary wildly on location of event and what else is going on in that particular week.
To give you a very crude idea the last main draw DAs for the following:
Glasgow - 267
Burnie (aus) - 353
Dallas - 302
Hong Kong - 312
But then the provisional last direct for Bergamo next week is 208 after SEs cleared

will do those ! How many challengers in Australia I guess they are back to back prior to Aussie open right ?
