Caught a bit of Ewan Moore's match having not seen him before.
He has a nice game and likes to come to the net, but just lacked weight of shot and a bit of court management, but that will come with experience. Plenty of promise.
not sure I really like seeing 2 Brits playing each other in a Challenger and don't know what to say other than I wouldn't mind if it were the final. so, good luck to Ed in the next round and commiserations to Alex and Ewan.
Marcus previously lifted the glasgow futures title so happy memories of Scotland's 2nd City but arguably it's best !
I know the LTA have restablished the surbiton tournament as a pre Wimbledon challenger . More GB challengers would be a boost to our players and a step in the right direction
Worth noting (LTA, coaches or whoever) that of the three players who yesterday got through to the second round of a 50k Challenger (all in two sets and with two wins against top200 players), one of them (Marcus) lost in the first round of a 10k last week, one of them (Ed) lost in the second round of a 10k last week, and one of them (Dan S) lost in the QF of a 10K last week.
Admittedly, there were better results the week before. But the point being that you don't need to be nailing 10ks in order to compete well at Challengers and you have to raise the bar for the players to raise their game.

It also helps when you draw Italians who (especially in the case of Viola) prefer a nice slow clay court to a fast indoor hard court.

Indeed, But we can't say that all the victories are a fluke. Or even just lucky. A retirement is a fluke; a victory isn't. After all, there are lots of guys in the top 200 who prefer nice slow clay courts. And they all have to play indoor hard tournaments. So someone has to draw them every time.
lost 1 & 1. score a bit flattering to Reister. Milton just struggled to hold serve. seems to have beefed the serve up a bit but still vulnerable. can't see how he got 15 aces in fqr.
