I wonder if we will see Liam tank in order that he can play qualifiers in Memphis?

 Surely he will.

If he has no intention of winning, then withdraw !

It's no doubt far from unusual, but I'm uncomfortable with players tanking matches.

Absolutely.

But don't think they get the prize money if they withdraw . . .

His partner was in involved in the dodgy shenanigans last week in the doubles as well. Liam should never have put himself in this position in the first place by entering the doubles.

In no way should he tank a match. Completely in agreement with Indie and CD. Bad position to be in, but he has more sense and decency, from what I've heard, than to tank.

In principle I agree but the reality is that it happens week in week out. A player who is focussed primarily on singles is not going to want to miss playing in the next tournament just to play doubles

Yes.

Although pauilsi has a point. If you're only in the qualies of the singles, there's no guarantee of any money, or any points. So, if you're going deep in the doubles of the previous week's challenger, it might be a good idea to give it your best, bank the money and points and get as far as you can that week and then start again in singles in a week's time or so.

yes, I agree with the above three.  also think as a northerner its just not what we do.  when you start something. you finish to the best of your ability.

I think, even if Liam does miss the Q's in Memphis he may not be too bothered this once especially if he does well in the doubles.  Don't know about the money side of it and how much that comes into it.

Well, it's currently on the livestream and 5-5.

Just saved three SPs.

No sign of tanking . . .

Surely if a player "tanked" in doubles he would struggle to get another partner? OK maybe not a huge issue for a 10k but 100k is starting to get serious. If you enter the doubles you know you could get knocked out in 1st round of singles but reach final of doubles and have to plan accordingly....
