Phew and he's over the line!

A really good run of making the quarters or better but he's starting to make the quarters look more and more like "only the quarters" which is also very good!

And he takes the second! GSM 7-5 in the third.

Good battling qualities Kedders.

Just caught the last three games and Kyle seemed to move up the gears in the last two, with big first serves and some solid ground shots.
8th seed next.
Meanwhile Brydan is having a real tussle in the third set(not streamed)

Ah just missed the end foolishly opted for a bath. Well done Kyle. He seems to relax a little when starting the second if he knows he has a big edge over his opponent. Fantastic that he is pulling out the stops to polish things off in two, but I think more sustained concentration in the second set will make things much easier for him and allow progression.

I am sure it will come as he continues to do well at this level and begins to expect to win the first set, gets a feel for his opponent early and how to beat him; diminishing the high at the end of the first and the relaxation and loss of concentration that follows. The reaction should be to refocus.

That said he is going great guns another great result and lessons to be learnt.

To be fair this was the first set he has dropped since the AO

I agree he has performed outstandingly well out east and I am sure those that matter are delighted with Kyles progress which is very exciting for us punters. I do some interview preparation for a very competitive multi station process, essentially an exam.

Letting the last phase go and focusing for the next regardless of the previous performance is essential in this setting and sport is not dissimilar.

There are physical cues you can use to remind yourself where you are in the process and on what to focus. At least one elite rugby player has a specific routine to reset his specific objectives to the match situation. For many this is intuitive, otters need merely a point in the right direction and some need tuition and reinforcement.

Great news as Kyle pulls out another close one. He will play 8th seed Chung in the QF who is now the only seed left in the tournament as top seed Duckworth was beaten in 3 sets today.

Good point, Oakland.

And, yes, I always find that you've only got wind the otter up and point it in the right direction and then it zips along, just perfectly smile

The really good thing about the last couple of weeks is that Kyle seems to be playing within himself and has the ability to go to another level when the need arises. Chung will be a tough test but if he plays well it is a very winnable match for him.

Disgracefully loses a TB.

Seriously, great to see how Kyle is so often pulling it out in important stages in sets and matches.

Onward ...
