RE: Week 5 - ITF ($10K) - El Kantaoui, Tunisia - Hard

The magic seems a little lacking this morning.... lost the first set 1-6 rather quickly ....

Despite the scoreline, the stats were far more even than you'd project, and MJ up a break up in set 2 for the second time, 1-6 *3-2

I'm sensing Hev/Katy like instincts today....

Aw, shucks. Mirabelle loses 6-4 in the second.

Maybe she felt flat after the high of yesterday, maybe (like me) she always feels a bit down on her birthday, or maybe the young Italian girl is a promising player, under-ranked and on her way up, and she simply played better.

Shows what I know!

R2: (Q) Mirabelle NJOZE (GBR) lost to (Q) Deborah CHIESA (ITA) 713 1-6 4-6

Still, another thoroughly well earned point and good signs for sure.

I was going to say maybe she can get started on her party now but I see she's got a dubs MTB still to play held over from yesterday...

Yesterday's career best win will hold her in good stead in the weeks ahead :)

Chiesa is 18 too, junior CH 82 in 2013, so I didn't think this would be a foregone conclusion by any means, though I did hope Mirabelle would win. Still, R1 was a pretty good way to end her 18th year!

Think she's just starting her 18th year ...?

You celebrate your 18th birthday at the end of your 18th year, not the start wink

Not trying to be pedantic (as a newbie) but shouldn't it be "pretty good way to end her 17th year!" ITF profile shows DOB 05/02/1997. Optimist I presume was alluding to the fact that she is starting her 18th year - on the 5th.

No - the end of her 1st year was 05/02/1998, so the end of her 3rd year was 05/02/2000. Add on 15 years to now, so 05/02/2015 is the end of her 18th year.

Yep, 18 years completed, 05/02/97 to 05/02/15. Mirabelle now starts her 19th year on this planet and that year will be completed by her 19th birthday on 05/02/16.

Welcome, Tennislover, take on Steven at your peril :) Though don't be put off, he is known to be wrong.
