Alex defeats the 2014 US Open junior runner-up from a set down and match points down in the 3rd - unusually for a GB Futures event, he has made the SFs without beating a fellow-Brit and won't play a Brit in the semis either:

QF: (5) Alex Ward WR 347 beat Quentin Halys (FRA) WR 638 (CH 596 last Nov; 18yo junior CH 3) by 6-7(5) 6-3 7-6(3)
QF: (3) Dan Cox WR 298 beat (8) Josh Milton WR 385 by 4 & 3
QF: James Marsalek WR 788 beat (2) Dan Smethurst WR 284 by 1-6 6-3 6-4

SF: (5) Alex Ward WR 347 v (Q) Matthieu Roy (FRA) WR 1132 (CH 728 in 2013)
SF: (3) Dan Cox WR 298 v James Marsalek WR 788 - H2H 5-0, including a 3 & 4 win for Dan last week

Very good to see from James, particularly as Dan S has renewed fitness and improving form. Be interesting to see how he now does against Dan Cox.

And, Alex, well done, now make it an all Brit final.

The 18 year-old frenchman has taken the first set in a TB against Alex.

Dan S won the first set easily but James M now serving for the second set at 5*-3

PS sherbert: what's a player zone account? And why would it stop people signing up ? Is it difficult to get? Does it cost? (sorry for all the questions !)

That's fine smile A player zone account is the ATP version of the ITP one. You have to email a woman who gives you a username to pay and join. It does cost around £200. It then allows you to enter ATP tournaments. Before the change - you didn't have to have this account to be able to play quallies in a challenger. You could just go on the day.

Nothing whatsoever against Dan S but I am really pleased to see Marzi get that win.

Gutted for Smethy, but at least he got the win last week. It was never going to be easy defending all those points, just a matter of picking up enough so that during the 2nd half of the year he can really attack those rankings again.

Great result for Wardy, and hopefully he can end Roy's run of victories.

Final:  (4) Isak Arvidsson & Micke Kontinen (SWE/FIN) CR 1157 (304+853) vs (2) Lewis Burton & Marcus Willis CR 495 (243+252)

Can the Brits prevent the Nordic pair from lifting their second title in a row in the UK?
