Thank you ,

That's good news must be getting used to the babolats  & maybe now out of doubles will enable more focus and energy on the singles.  If can make the SF v Dan cox

does anyone know head to head Marcus lost recent Brit tour final and a futures in Shrewsbury . A victory over Dan would be a significant step forward .

Dan C won 6-3 6-4

Marcus 3-1 up second set

ITF H2H says Dan C leads 8-2 in tour events, with Marcus' only wins coming on grass.

No - just a bit too far ,especially with the weather forecast.

Quite in the office, so had a chance to follow closely.

If the forecast is better for Saturday and the final is interesting, I might consider going.

I've just checked the distance and google maps suggests 2hr 5 mins - so it is probably a bit too far unfortunately.

I'll try and get to Wirral, Didsbury and Ilkley though...

With it being the start of the season in a week with no challengers on and 7 players ranked between 280 and 385 who are looking for big points to get themselves to challenger level, you would think the LTA would use their brains and put on a 15k not a 10k. But alas...

I've been thinking that too ...

More on the SF line-up:

SF: (1/WC) Dan Smethurst WR 284 v (7) Tom Farquharson WR 543

H2H: 2-1, all 2 sets - Dan won in 2011 & 2014, Tom 3 & 5 at their last meeting in the Wirral final last Feb

SF: (2/WC) Dan Cox WR 298 v (5) Marcus Willis WR 364

H2H: 8-2, though they haven't met since 2013

I think the LTA were hoping the challenger type players would go and play challengers and the remainder 10K, as there looked like two groupings of players(11 between 150 and 400 the rest no better than 550).

Unfortunately the challenger calendar doesn't match the schedules and these 11 guys are being forced to play 10/15K at the moment.
