Not a great day for the Brits, really - just 6 QF-ists having started the tournament with all 8 seeds. Marzi's win v Gabb maybe not a big surprise given the H2H.

L16: (6) Josh Milton WR 385 beat Matthieu Roy (FRA) WR 1132 (CH 728 in 2013) by 6-3 3-6 6-2
L16: (WC) Luke Bambridge WR 580 lost to Pirmin Hänle (GER) WR 720 (CH 526 in 2009) by 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4
L16: (7) Tom Farquharson WR 543 beat Neil Pauffley WR 668 by 4 & 2
L16: (5) Marcus Willis WR 364 beat Marshall Tutu WR 1145 by 2 & 4
L16: (4) Alex Ward WR 347 lost to Nicolas Rosenzweig (FRA) WR 1026 (CH 687 in 2012) by 7-6(2) 7-6(4)
L16: (WC) James Marsalek WR 788 beat (8) Richard Gabb WR 547 by 2 & 4
L16:(2/WC) Dan Cox WR 298 beat (Q) Adam Thornton-Brown WR 1397 by 1 & 3

QF: (1/WC) Dan Smethurst WR 284 v (6) Josh Milton WR 385
QF: (7) Tom Farquharson WR 543 v Pirmin Hänle (GER) WR 720 (CH 526 in 2009)
QF: (5) Marcus Willis WR 364 v Nicolas Rosenzweig (FRA) WR 1026 (CH 687 in 2012)
QF: (2/WC) Dan Cox WR 298 v (WC) James Marsalek WR 788

H2Hs

Dan v Josh: 3-5 overall, 1-1 last year - Josh won their last meeting (Bath SF in November) 1-6 6-4 6-3
Dan v James: 4-0 - another player Dan lost his first ever Futures set against then hasn't lost a set to since

That's a heavy defeat by bomb & Burt's standards but they have had a gap & might take a while to get back in the swing of it although these days more worried about Marcus'a singles performance which must remain the main priority

I hope marcus can get to SF and find a way to defeat Dan cox their current head to head appears heavily in Dan's favour and he's a bit of a bogey man for Marcus so a good test .

I heard that marcus has just switched to babolat rackets. Could explain the defeat

actually this is a serious question

I presume Marcus has switched racket manufacturer because of sponsorship, so he may go for a racket similar to what he was using. if so, he ought to know fairly soon whether it feels right for him and I would expect it would only take a couple of games for him to feel settled ? is that correct or not? although he may have gone for a different type of racket altogether which may take him longer to adapt. I really don't know. it must be a little difficult at first but he seems to be doing alright in the singles new racket or not.

QF: (7) Tom Farquharson WR 543 def. Pirmin Hänle (GER) WR 720 (CH 526 in 2009) 6-4 6-1

Josh was a break up but now back on serve, Dan S serving: 4*-5,

A pleasing result for Tom against Evos vanquisher. Interesting to see Andy Murray's comment about the present generation of teenagers in GS tennis and how unpredictable their progression will be as talent can only take you so far in the men's game. unsurprisingly he feels its related to those that the player surrounds themselves with and success is directly proportional to sacrifice.
