RE: Week 3 - ITF ($10K) - Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt - Hard

Bad luck Fran, hopefully nothing serious.

Great win for Charlie :)
Eden would've beaten the top seed of course but good to see her make the most of that switch of opponent :)

Shame - ITF had Fran highlighted as the winner earlier this morning but it didn't really seem likely, with the score . . .

'Glad' it's an illness and not an injury though . . .

Wishing her better . . .

The top seed, Haas', withdrawal not only helped Eden in the singles but gave Dasha and partner a walkover in the doubles QF and so they are through to the semi.

Hopefully Eden can take even further advantage of her lucky break and push on to the SF.

Still just 18 ( 19 in March ) it would be good to see her make real progress this year and spread her wings further. As it is, in a quiet way not doing badly, she will be pushing her CH further up the 600s and up to GB no 14 ( 13, ahead of Fran, if she went and won the title ).

Keep going Eden :)

With only 11 GBR women inside the top 500 at the moment hopefully a few more will be getting there soon...

Great stuff, Eden. Taking advantage of a little bit of luck in round 1 - really good. She's going to get the third seed now so tricky but nice to see her building on last year's sudden progress.

Today's win should see Eden's career high rise by more than 50 places at the end of the AO

QF: Eden Silva WR 691 beat Shiho Akita (JPN) WR 715 (CH 255 in 2011) by 3-6 6-3 6-2

SF: Eden Silva WR 691 v (3) Aleksandrina Naydenova (BUL) WR 346 (CH 264 in 2013)

H2H 0-1 - Naydenova won 1 & 2 in R2 last week
