there were some really excellent womens tennis matches on last night and Venus winning again this morning, all good for the game.

Impressive stuff by Venus with all she's been through and ongoing medical issues.

So, the top ( Heather's ! ) half has 3 Americans :

(1) S Williams vs (11) Cibulkova ( who Heather would have met in R2 if ... )
Keys vs (18) V Williams

And the bottom half recovered from its opening Mad Monday when it lost 8 of its 16 seeds to reach the QF with almost as strong looking a lineup as it could get :

(10) Makarova vs (3) Halep
(7) Bouchard vs (2) Sharapova

oh, so the Williams sisters are in the same half and could meet in the semi-final

and yes all seeds in the bottom half surprisingly

I cannot believe Venus is on the verge of getting back into the top 10 and this is her first GS QF for a few years....

I have a huge soft spot for Venus, so delighted to see her doing well.

Although equally I would love Aga to finally break through and win a slam. So was a bit torn in that match today.
