Breaks the streak and I think will put Heather back into the doubles top 100 and within a R2 win of overtaking Joss and Anna.

I think Heather will be GB no. 1 for doubles anyway. I haven't looked in detail but Joss and Anna have points to come off from Sunderland last year.

More importantly after waiting over 4 years for a GS double win lets hope Hev can make it 2 wins in 2 days!

You are right Sim, Heather will already be provisionally GB doubles no 1 and would have slipped ahead even without taking Joss / Anna's Sunderland points off :

Heather : 673 + 130 ( Aus Open R2 ) - 1 ( existing 11th best ) = 802

Joss / Anna : 796 - 50 ( Sunderland 25K title ) + 18 ( existing 12th best ) = 764 ( which might be tight for staying in the top 100 )

I think when looking roughly I had added R2 singles ( 70 points ) or just couldn't count !

240 points for reaching R3 / L16 would take Heather to 912 points.

I note, with the Fed Cup coming up, that after a very productive summer Joss / Anna have only had 5 ranking matches ( 1 win and 4 losses, albeit all but one WTA tour ) and none since the end of October.

I guess Heather still has had a good start to the season, with the promise of more. Just a bit maddening what's occurred for her here.

And now we have Madison Brengle vs Madison Keys for a place in the Aussie Open QF.

Mad ...

Keys has been on the radar for ages, but hasn't yet reached her potential.

Well done to Lindsay too, for her part.

For fans of the WTA in general, and obscure facts and stats, they have just released a 226 page (I kid you not!) set of match notes for tomorrows match ups.
It actually details most of the players and matches at the AO to date, along with reams of miscellaneous stats at the end.

I wonder if this is the sort of thing they produce regularly, and is reserved for the press.

Anyway, the whole bewildering but fascinating undertaking can be found for your perusal, here.

I'm usually pretty impressed with the 10-11 paged media notes produced by the ITF and the ATP, so that's...something else.

Keys beat Brengle pretty easily. she's playing Aga or Venus next. I wouldn't mind abit of an upset
