Well done to Mr Broady and Mr Edmund - especially (given quality of opposition) Mr Broady. Agree that it's hard to call the next matches. Some fabulous wins from youngsters - Chung and Ymer, for example - which show that you just can't tell.
All draws are lumpy, but it must be so frustrating. There are some sections where qualifying looks fairly straightforward, and others ... if I had been drawn into the section with both Melzer and Darcis, for example, or with Michal Przysiezny, Klahn and Aljaz Bedene, I would not be a happy person. Copil, Petzschner, Jasika, JP Smith and Zverev is no great joy either.
Intersting isn't it how variable the performance of youngsters are you would have expected Zeverev to have cruised through given his precocious talent and athleticism ... Shows how critical experience is and how important it is to stay patient when supporting our youngsters.
Excellent result for Liam and Kyle and commiserations for Brydan. Really wish I could have been there to watch the matches. Good luck with the next round.
Jared Donaldson match is interesting, very confident young American. watched him play (on the internet) Dan Cox and James Ward late last year so as someone else said Liam will probably know him and his style of play.
seeds dropping like flies. Dustov (9) Zeballos (11) Zverev (20) all gone already
also Benoit Paire and Nicholas Mahut both out. it must be quite difficult playing qualifying after the level they played at.
Paire has been so plagued with injuries, missed a huge amount of last season (his knee, I think, it was, for the most part), hadn't played a match since September, I think, so it was no real surprise. (Mahut, bless him, is getting on a bit now - not sure how much longer one will see him in singles. PH Herbert tweeted (having lost) that actually managing to finish a match was already a victory as far as he was concerned (back problems).
Sorry to be ignorant - are there any points to be gained in the qualifying rounds?
Yes. From memory it is 8 points for 1st round win rising to 35 points for qualification (plus a minimum of 10 more for a 1st round loss in the in the MD). Can't remember what you get for winning the 2nd round of qualies but 17 springs to mind. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks Bob
It would help if I got the numbers right though. I am now thinking that it is QR1 - 8 points, QR2 - 16 points, Qualification 25 points (+10 even if you lose in the 1st round of the MD.) You might like to check back in 10 mins when I have triple checked my numbers.
Edit - OK. I will go with these numbers. Pretty sure they are correct now.

Thanks - you've had more than 10 mins as I've been out for most of the morning!

And didn't win a match last week at the HC, when Cornet carried the team.
I get the feeling that Liam was seriously pumped for this one, and when he's in that mood it's going to take a special player to stop him. Donaldson is tricky, but still think Liam will prevail. As for Kyle from 4-4 in the first he was simply unstoppable, Krajicek will be a little step up, but not enough to stop Kyle on his way to FQR.
Nice to see Bedene also progress, as I have now decided to show some support for the man from Gosling, unlike a certain Aussie who turned Brit, who I remain completely neutral about.
Surprisingly the bookmakers can't really split these 2 matches, other than making Liam marginal favourite. Given that British bookmakers generally exaggerate the chances of British players, they are interesting odds.
Kyle and Liam close to going on, ladies first round qualifiers on courts 14 and 15 into their last few games. 15 one sided two setter almost wrapped up
