Liam is a break down in the second too lost a mammoth service game.

Will be hard to see a way back for him now.

Kyle however is putting the pressure on in the second but no break as yet.

Kyle is in to a decider, seems to be holding easily and putting pressure on Propoggia - fingers crossed!

Liam on the other hand looks like a dead man walking. Had a sticky patch in the middle of the match and hasn't recovered. 5-7 *2-5

Great to see Kyle lasting the pace so well and QUALIFYING !!!

... and well played this week, Liam, your time will come.

And with Kyle due to drop 28 points from two futures on 02/02, he will just have to win his R1 match to stay ahead of Liam as GB no 3.

Well done Kyle! Shame that Liam couldn't have joined him in R1.

Kyle you beautie! As they say in Wogga Wogga. Liam comisserations but some great battles already won in 2015!

The points situation is fascinating in that there is minimal differentiation between a futures win and GS qualifying but I suppose that is essential to facilitate initial development linked to transition to the ATP tour. It would be fascinating to compare with a money list which weights so heavily in favour of GS ( minus wildcards).

I think 2015 is going to be fascinating given where Liam and Kyle were last year I am hoping for a three way rumble for the number two spot with a ranking some where between 100 and 50! Here's hoping for at least 2 Brits in round 2!

Very pleased for Kyle even though personally if I could have picked one of the two to wake up to winning I'd have gone for Liam on this occasion.

In some ways I'd rather see him earn it for his first slam (esp. If I did actually get to SEE it) but is there any chance of a lucky loser spot for Liam?
- Imagine that with Ward's only just sneaking in direct and Kyle's 9-7 fqr win between the 3 they'd really have kept us on tender hooks in just about every imaginable way before making the draw then!

I can't paste it from my phone but Russell's comments on the match are on the ausopen.org qualifiers story which also says Liam didn't break serve. Be interesting to see Liam's thoughts on the match
