Might be getting a bit ahead of myself, but here's a challenge Steven (a relatively easy one compared to some of others you've researched in the past I think) (or anyone else) - when was the last time we had three Brits in the main draw of a Slam on merit? When was the last time we had four?
Not sure about Grand Slam but was checking the Aus Open. In 2002 we had 3 in the main draw at the Aus Open, Martin Lee, Tim Henman & Greg Rusedski. We also had 3 in 2000 Jamie Delgado(as a Lucky Loser), Tim Henman & Arvind Parmer (as a Qualifier). For 4 or more you have to go back to 1988 when we had 5 in the first round, 2 as Qualifers. Andrew Castle, David Felgate(Q), Chris Bailey(Q), Steve Shaw & Jeremy Bates.
I've been away for a couple of days so just ploughed through the forum after updating Twitter and the T25 tables. I got asked a similar question on Twitter and I could have saved myself a bit of checking if I had read Madadman's answer here first!
The question I was asked a couple of times on Twitter was when was the last time 4 British men made the singles main draw of a slam other than Wimbledon, to which the answer is 2006 - Andy, Tim, Greg & (Q) Josh Goodall at the US Open.
I also looked up the AO-specific stats that Madadman mentions and happily (since it probably means neither of us missed anything!), we agree on those

What a day, Donaldson was getting huge wraps by people watching, so for Liam to dig that one out, having already had MP in the second, was a quality effort. Both players had injury timeouts during the third set as well.
Kyle showed that he has maybe developed a bit more stamina this year, which for me is the vital ingredient for him to push forward quicker up the rankings.
Great chances to qualify now and it must help massively that neither player is feeling pressure being the only young Brit showing great potential and having great results.
I would've taken 1 qualifier at the draw; I'm hoping for two now but I'd be happy with one. It's important to both but I feel that Kyle has this innate gradient which he can follow, whereas making the draw for Liam would be a huge plus and a massive redemption for sticking it through unlike some of his cohorts.
Some very interesting qualifier spots in the 1st round. Andy, of course is one of them, but there is also Djokovic if you are looking for a big name. Or if you want big servers, Isner, Raonic and Karlovic are on the list as well. There are a few eminently winnable matches in there too, such as Go Soeda and Luke Saville.
Got to get through to the MD first though. All the best guys. Need to wake up tomorrow to 4 Brits in the MD. Wouldn't that be good.
Yes, when the men's draw came out, I noticed that the proportion of seeds drawn to face WCs or Qs seemed (without any analysis!) quite high, especially in the top half. There are some superb, experienced players in qualifying. Must admit that I'd rather see some of the meatier draws go to someone like Melzer/Darcis, Bedene/Przysiezny, or Kubot/Marchenko than to someone just starting out. Not sure the aforementioned players would agree! But if, like Kubot, you'd won the doubles the previous year on Laver, presumably playing Djokovic on Laver wouldn't be quite as daunting as if it would be if this were your first ever GS match.
