Been a bit busy lately and apart from checking up on Murray's results at the HC, I've genuinely lost all track of British tennis.
So it's great to catch the very tail end of these two matches to see Liam and Kyle continue their 2014 form this week. A couple of fantastic wins and a handy 16 points to boot. 35+ on offer (including the minimum 10 points in the main draw) if they can qualify.
Might be getting a bit ahead of myself, but here's a challenge Steven (a relatively easy one compared to some of others you've researched in the past I think) (or anyone else) - when was the last time we had three Brits in the main draw of a Slam on merit? When was the last time we had four?
Great news had to start work when things looking grim towards the end of first set popped out for breakfast but what a lift. Really pleased for the boys Kyle just took a set to get going and then wallop and what a fantastic show of stamina and will to win by Liam. Hats off. Really hopeful that we can squeeze another two into the main draw. That would be real progress for British tennis.
Kyle's development has been on a steady upward gradient over the last 3 years but Liam's literal vertical ascent of the rankings over the last 6 months must be really heartening for some of our more mature but obviously talented players between 250-400 who perhaps by addressing a few issues could kick on in similar style.

I agree. Not least Oli Goldwhinge who for me is starting to look more and more like that with Kyle's and Liam's efforts and progress.
