Just Georgia playing singles today in a remarkably weak G1, particularly for the girls. Georgia is ranked around 400 yet seeded 9 here - you don't get into many G1s with her ranking, never mind be seeded. Her Venezuelan opponent is 0-11 in ITF main draws.

Boys R2 (L32)

Afonso Salgado (POR) v (15) Ryan James Storrie
(6) Jay Clarke v (WC) Luis Souki (VEN)

Girls R2 (L32)

(9) Georgia Lawson v (Q) Maria Gabriella Baiocco (VEN)

Maybe this might have something to do with it (from the UK FCO website):

There is a high risk of street crime (often armed) throughout Venezuela, especially in the major cities and on beaches, including on the popular tourist island of Margarita where there have been several incidents of armed robbery. Resistance to robbery has resulted in victims being shot dead. Take care at all times.

You should remain vigilant and be aware that common crimes such as mugging and pick pocketing are often accompanied by violence. Avoid displays of wealth, including visibly displaying your mobile phone. Take care if you make or receive calls. You can reduce the possibility of your phone being detected by criminals by switching off functions like Bluetooth and Wi-fi.

The risk of crime is higher after dark. Try not to go out alone. Dont camp on or visit beaches after dark.

And of course the shortage of lavatory paper.

A good test for Ryan and a tougher one in the last 16. Hoping that the Tractor boy shows his metal.

Venezuela certainly looks a good source of points anyway. The upcoming Gaza Strip Classic should even more so.

All very close in the boys, one going our way, one against:

Boys R3 (16)

(15) Ryan James Storrie lost to (4) Emil Reinberg (USA) 7-6(5) 6-7(8) 6-3

(6) Jay Clarke def. (11) Louis Tessa (FRA) 7-5 7-6(3)

In the girls:

R3 (16) : (9) Georgie Lawson lost to (7) Sophia Chow (BRA) 6-3 6-4

That's going to be decent points for Jay, who is also into the semi-finals of the doubles, as is Georgia

QF: (6) Jay Clarke v (3) Casper Ruud (NOR) (his doubles partner)

Good effort from Jay considering the opposition, losing out in two tight sets, but he is rewarded with a first G1 doubles final. If he wins that he will overtake Alexis in the battle for GB number 1

Boys Doubles SF

(2) Clarke/Ruud (GBR/NOR) d. Bandeira/Sabugueiro (POR) 6-4 6-3
