CD beat me by a second to a post about their triumph in the first round yesterday evening. I seem to be the only one interested in reporting the fact that the boys couldn't quite manage a second stroll in the park this evening:
QF: Deiton Baughman & Julio Peralta (USA/CHI) CR 1300 (805+495) defeated Matt Short & David Vega (ESP) CR 1870 (1371+499) by 3 & 2
I had been hoping that this week Farris would move ahead of the rest of the group in the 50s in ranking points to be GB no 14 in running. For the moment he just moves ahead of Luke and Ashley to GB no 17.
Just got back in the door, Stircrazy :) Or I'd have been very happy (or unhappy as it happens) updating the guys progress/lack of. Seems a shame after such a good victory yesterday. I'd hoped that Matt might have chalked up a good doubles tournament, at least, after a slightly disappointing singles . . .
Farris is now, apparently, a student again after a semester off. I presume that this is common knowledge, of course.
Wasn't common knowledge to me, so cheers I knew he was only booked to have one semester off but had no idea if he'd extended it, changed his mind, whatever. Thanks for the info.
PS I note that the Monégasque who beat Farris has stormed through to the finals . . .

No idea as such but if he'd been going to graduate in spring 2015, and then took off a semester, wouldn't he then have to make up that semester ? i.e. wouldn't be finished with college until Jan 2016?

Farris didn't start until Jan 12, so is scheduled to graduate at Christmas.

So does that mean he now has to go through to June 2016 ? i.e. to make up the semester he's taken out?
No idea in Mr Gosea's personal case, but sometimes brighter students do accelerate their classes and can graduate in 3 or 3.5 years. They're in the minority though, tennis commitments are quite time consuming at college so getting ahead with classes isn't that easy.
