Do we know who, if anyone, Jo is travelling with?

Pereira only wins matches on clay.
Combined for 2013 & 2014, she has 63 WTA Tour wins.
61 of those were on clay.

Good draw.

Breaks to love to close it out.
GSM JoKo 6-2 6-3

Ons Jabeur next, which is as good a draw as an ALT could ever hope for in Q2 of a Premier.

At least we now know for sure Jo's in form, but another win would be nice, to set her up for Oz qualies.

Nice win, though as Ali says, Pereira is very much a clay court specialist. ITF gives a different career high (and different CH year) for Jabeur - not a big deal, but:

QR2: (alt) Johanna Konta WR 146 v Ons Jabeur (TUN) WR 142 (CH 133 last Feb)

Jabeur is an underranked up and coming player, but entirely beatable.

I don't rate Jabeur that much. She's obviously a decent player but nothing special. Here's hoping Jo keep going now

I think this may be as far as it goes for Jo. I hope not though.

Even if she does manage to win this match, she has a very tough challenge ahead. 3 of the 4 Qualifiers are up against seeded players in the MD, and this tournament is extremely loaded with top quality players. If she were to avoid them, she'd be playing someone she has a 0-2 H2H record against in R1. No easy draws at this level, but this one looks tougher than usual.

Jo doesn't want to win too many matches here, needs to get to Melbourne. Great job on Jabeur but no problem if she loses now.
