Week 1 - Challenger ($50,000) - Happy Valley, Aus (Hard)

Brydan Klein is the 7th seed in qualifying and has a bye in the opening round and will play either Hobart or Ratiwatana in rnd 2 with the Italian top seed the likely opponent in the final qualifier.

Liam Broady is a direct entry into the main draw.

Tough final qualifying game assuming he gets that far against no 1 seed rank 198

That top qualifying seed is Travaglia, a 23 yo Italian, whose favourite surface is down as clay. Given also less than a 20 place spread for the current rankings of the top 4 seeds, on the face of it not sure that Brydan's draw is too bad relatively.

Not saying that it won't still be a fair challenge to qualify with that being the extent of my investigation.

Given the Brits results so far maybe that would be a good draw - one of them through to R2. Of course long way for Brydan to go to get to R1.

Brydan comfortably through to final round of qualies and up against an Aussie ranked 500 odd who beat the top seed

Brydan should be favourite to win that.

Brydan is with Travaglia

Liam is with Chung(Korea)

Liam plays doubles whilst Brydan plays final qualifier tomorrow.
