Ward is the first British male other than Murray to earn direct entry into the singles main draw of a slam since Henman at the 2007 US Open.

Think Wardy deliberately lost his last two matches because he wanted to crack the Top 100 by winning an MD match in a Slam. wink

Seriously though, it would be a great place to do it. Go Wardy.

Don't know whether to suggest we, as they say in negotiations, "show ambition" and hold out for a qualifier, please (or a WC) .... or whether that's a sure-fire way of ensuring that he'll have a top-10 player first round.

Great news for James. On form I think he is a threat to any player outside the top 30. It would be great to see him in the MD for all 4 slams this year.

I'm not really sure that getting in direct is for the best. James has only played 1 competitive match this year so he might have been better served by having to go through qualifying.
