Vasylyeva after demolishing her opponent in R1, struggled in R2 winning 7-5 in the third so not an impossible task for young Katy. I get the feeling that Katy is starting to enjoy ( well maybe that's too strong a word ) but certainly coping better on this trip to India, so won't be a huge shock to me if she topples the top seed.
Well an hour ago she tweeted about something being the best Xmas present she could ever have asked for, I'm hoping that means what we all hope it means......
Edit - just seen your post DF, evidently it did!!

Well that's a good Christmas present to wake up to. Well done Katy - validates her commitment to play over Christmas. she should enjoy the rest of her day now!
This girl is good, very good. She broke through in 2014 in the UK grass court season and I'm expecting a similar breakthrough at some point in 2015. I personally think her game is very similar to a certain top Polish female player!
What a talent and what a great job Jo Durie is doing with her.
Fortunately, Katy is one of several huge British female talented tennis players!
C'mon Katy let's believe and see what's possible this week!
Katie has had a no doubt bit of a frustrating time since her Imola 15K title ( and 25 points ) in Mid July with just a total of a further 30 points won in the 5 months between Imola and this week.
I think though some injury and maybe illness issues kept her back and she has retained the faith ( staying on in India over Christmas when I wasn't sure to what ends - err, these ends ! ).
One more win this week would take her into the top 300, past her recent brief CH 299 and up to GB no 4 ahead of the flying Emily.
Even if she doesn't manage that, itt would still be a very good encouraging end to the year, promising good times in 2015.
