What a weird match. Final set, Naomi won 5 on bounce, only to lose 6 on bounce.

In the doubles final, the Grinch did not steal Christmas!

SF: Silva/Van Der Hoek (GBR/NED) [1] defeated Kulikova/Pinto (RUS/ITA) [4] 6-3 6-1
F: Silva/Van Der Hoek (GBR/NED) [1] defeated Grinchishina/Klyueva (KAZ/KAZ) [2] 6-4 2-6 [10-5]

Eden's third pro doubles title; all at $10K, in Sharm, this year.
Well done!

SF: (3) Naomi Cavaday WR 495 lost to (2) Vojislava Lukic (SRB) WR 434 (CH 203 in 2007) by 0-6 6-2 7-5

Worth noting, though, that Lukic had won her previous match from a bakery product down too. The apparent meltdown in the final set must have hurt though

What a shame to lose from that position! I was hoping Naomi was going to win the tournament to wrap up a great few months. Maybe she got injured.

Pity, but its been good stepping stones this year for Naomi.

She still seems a bit inconsistent from match to match, sometimes very good and sometimes clearly not so good. And here evidently inconsistent within the match, although that was not unlikely true of both players.

Hopefully she can firm up her game more with good work in the close season. Still overall unsurprisingly quite a long way off her previous best, at least on a consistent basis, but the ambition seems there to get it back. All the best to her.
