When this week's points are added on Monday week, Fran is likely to rise about 140 places into the 640s (her career high is 518) and from GB no. 19 now (20 tomorrow) to GB no. 13!

It's been a pretty long and no doubt often frustrating road back, but there had been increasingly good signs of late. What a lovely and encouraging end to the year for Fran :)
I was particulalry pleased because it must have been really frustrating to make the trip out last week but not be able to play (singles) because of some daft sign-in problem.
So great that she really took advantage this week (and, of course, won the doubles last week too).
In fact, what with Harriet winning last week and Fran this week, the LTA really should send a 'thank you Xmas card' to Djibouti . . . :) (Although, of course, maybe Harriet and Fran aren't on their very select 'future superstar' list though so they've barely registered it . . .)

Think the sign-in problem was that Fran forgot to remove herself from another entry list and was then automatically allocated by the Ipin system to that tournament rather than Djibouti. I believe players are barred from playing in any other tournament other than the one in which they are accepted (I thought it prevented taking part in both singles and doubles elsewhere but seemingly just singles).
On another point, I do wonder whether the LTA will continue to be secretive about who actually gets funding or whether this new regime will be open and publish a list.
Well done Fran, she's had a nightmare run with injury, ever since the period when she had that offseason training block with Hev, and her play suggested she was heading towards the top 300.
