L32: (4) Dan Smethurst WR 290 beat Aleksandre Metreveli (GEO) WR 540 (= CH) by 0 & 3
The ITF live scoreboard & the draw sheet are at odds with one another, with the former showing Dan as having won by that score & the latter Metreveli! I hope the scoreboard's right...

It does look like he has a lot to find to make further significant progress.
I've seen Luke play recently and the talent is there. It's the end of the season. I suspect he needs a break and the fact that he hasn't had Liam and Hilts to train with much(out in US for a few weeks) may be a factor.
I've no idea if Filin Pavel is a far better player than on paper or not.
But (and I've harped on about it before) when you get a lucky break and the number 3 seed suddenly disappears, and you singularly fail to take advantage of it, then it raises big questions. There are plenty of people to train with out there, plenty of people he knows, Qatar lays on an amazing event, short of injury it's difficult to see any other way of looking at it but a major disappointment. (However, of course, it's hardly the end of the world either . . . )
Scott takes out Barry from a set down for the second time in two months!
