I can understand putting the players in order for GB rankings and also world rankings but on the link below no matter how long I look at it I cant work out how the scoring system works and how can paulisi and kundalini have the same end points when their rankings are so different.

Never really studied the rules.  Just make up my numbers and hope for the best.  But looking at the scoring, I would guess you score points for the following:

1) Comparison with GB ranking - if you put a player down as GB Nº 4 and he finishes GB Nº4 you get five points.  If he finishes elsewhere you take the difference off the max of 5 points.  eg if you put James Ward down as GB Nº 2 and he finishes GB Nº 4, the difference is 2 places.  Take that 2 away from the max 5 points and you score 3.

2) Comparison with WR.  These seem to be done on %age of differences.  i.e. if our prediction is within 5% of the actual ranking you score 5 points.  If you are out by between 5% and 10% you score 4 points.  Between 10% and 15% 3 points etc.  If you are out by more than 25% you score nothing.

As I have said, I don't know for sure that this is the exact structure but it seems to be something like this.  I am sure Sim, or somebody else can give you a more exact explanation.

 

I already seem to have shot myself in the foot re Andy for next year.  I have put him at WR Nº1, more in hope than expectation.  So if he finishes at WR 2, which in all honesty is more likely, I am out by 100% and score nothing whereas those who have put him at WR 2 score the maximum 5 points. But I like to think positively.

Yes that is basically it.

You can get a maximum of 5 points for a players' GB ranking and 5 points for their World Ranking.

GB points 5 for exact match, 4 for 1 out, 3 for 2 out, 2 for 3 out and 1 for 4 out or if player is in top 10 (so you still get 1 point if you predicted GB no4 and they finish GB no 10)

World points 5 if within 5%, 4 for 5-10% out, down to 1 for 20-25% out

The reason World rankings are done in percentage terms is that it is players in the lower rankings can move by 100+ places whereas in all probability Andy will only change by 1 -3 places.

I agree the percentage doesn't really work for Andy so perhaps we should make an exception and do the same as for the GB rankings so you get 5 points if his WR is spot on, 4 if one out etc........

The only other rule is that you have to submit your entries before 1st January
