Really pleased for Evan. That's his 1st ranking point of the year, which given his injury problems is hardly surprising. But his only other two remaining ranking points are due to drop off next month and Evan ran the risk of not having a ranking at all. This win will keep him in the ATP rankings.
Jankovits slogged out a seemingly long and hard match today against Escoffier - with all the tennis last week, too, maybe he might be feeling a tad 'fatigué', 'crevé' 'épuisé', 'mort' or anything other 'kn**ckered' adjective he happens to fancy . ..
Don't like the sound of that for Imran. If it were just illness, I am sure he would have left it until tomorrow morning before taking the decision to pull out. I fear injury.
Such a shame after a really strong win in the 1st round. Hope he recovers quickly.
Yes, best wishes to Imran. It's just possible that it's a minor niggle and he thought that he really didn't have stand much of a chance in R2, against the second seed, and it' wasn't worth potentially aggravating it. (Although that's not the way most players think, and rightfully so, although it makes a lot of sense to an outsider . . . )
Evan a break up, 3*-2 - crosses fingers . . .. no cash this time, Marcan on a hard court is a tough ask, BUT you never know !
