First serve winning percentage is dropping quite quickly now, it is incredibly hot humid out there by the sounds of things, so it may just be who can hold on the longest. Broken from game point at 40-30 again unfortunately.
SF: Emily Webley-Smith WR 344 lost to (3) Marina Melnikova (RUS) WR 209 (CH 203 last week) by 3-6 7-5 6-3
Pity - Emily certainly gave herself plenty of chances to wrap up the match - but a very good week for her (encouraging last few weeks, in fact) nonetheless.

A valiant effort but Melnikova escapes and wins 36 75 63 :(
Em really needed to consolidate one of those two breaks in the final set, and despite having a point to do so each time she couldn't close out the service games, and that cost her in the end. However, it's been a fabulous week, and I really hope she doesn't feel too deflated. A superb effort against a player just outside the top 200 at pretty much a career high, and who had a very easy day yesterday - unlike Em!
So head up girl, you did good.

Bah! Good to see her back in the SF of a 25K though, and yesterday's win really underlines that she's playing at a decent level again. Really pleased for Em.
A very good week, even if there's some disappointment at the end. But two close matches against top seeds (one won, one lost) shows she's in the right place.
