Lewis going to struggle at challenger because he's struggled at futures singles and yet to win a singles futures title so I hope the lack of singles success and thus prize money will still enable him to continue to partner Marcus in doubles .
I am not sure how much you get each for making A challenger final but I think there is a top
up from an LTA bonus hopefully it's enough to cover his costs ?

According to the LTA site, the top up bonus for being the runner-up in a Challenger doubles final is £650.
It must be tough for Lewis.
He is a decent singles player, but doesn't have the self belief to win again the better singles players. Lewis said that himself at Didsbury.
Can he make a living out of doubles? That must be questionable.
Three weeks and a pay check of just $900 when he reached the final. Will get an LTA bonus, but needs a decent week to cover the costs of the trip and not the easiest draw this week.
Three weeks of hotel bills and travel to US must be at least 2k to cover, probably more.
That result surprised me a little but I think Freddie & Ed were playing scratch which is often difficult at any level . It be nice to see Marcus pair with Freddie ( when Lewis not available ) some time I think they could be highly effective . But on a positive note if marcus & Lewis can retain there recent form then they must have a great chance of lifting their 1st challenger title this week
In fact, I think last week Marcus and Lewis lost in the last round of qualifying doubles and didn't make the main draw ?
So their VERY recent form is not so good . . .
But it was close and Marcus had played a lot of long singles matches, which probably didn't help.
However, it was very, very close this week - and against the second seeds - real shame not to get that MTB - that's two week's in a row now . . .
Also a bit surprised by Ed's result - don't think it was because they were scratch - Marcus and Lewis lost in qualies last week despite being a very good, established pair, Ed made the semis last week, despite playing with a scratch partner (I believe) or certainly one he barely ever plays with. Sometimes it's just how things go . . .
Here's wishing them both all the best in the singles.
And it's over to Sean and Farris to fly the flag in the doubles.
Ah so close. Certainly another indication that Lewis and Marcus can probably get themselves much further up the rankings.
Re Ed & Freddie, pity. I guess some scratch pairings gel quickly and others take longer and some possibly are just not really right for each other.
Interesting year ahead for Marcus. I was pleased to see him indicate in his recent interview that he intends to really focus on singles this coming year. In my view that has to be right, he still has much untapped potential in singles and is still just 24, with players generally coming through later. As long as his doubles compliments his singles all good, but if and when push comes to shove I'd say beware of any voices in his head saying "doubles, doubles..". He has plenty time to more concentrate on doubles once he has explored his limits as a singles player.
It is a pity and a bit strange how Lewis has gone backwards in singles having been WR 626 in March 2012, just before his 20th birthday. If he now sees himself as more of a specialist doubles player, good luck to him, and he must make the choices that are best for him. Would still be good to see him at least keeping his hand in in singles and seeing if he can turn things round again given that he is still only 22.
Ed draws this year's Wimbledon boys' champ, who is still looking for his first Challenger main draw match win and hasn't won a senior main draw match since Vic Futures in May.
L32: (WC) Farris Gosea WR 588 v (WC) Marcos Giron (USA) WR 454 (CH 419 in Aug) - after a n/b 17.30 GMT match L32: Ed Corrie WR 223 v (Q) Noah Rubin (USA) WR 613 (CH 532 in Jul; 18yo junior WR 63, CH 6 in 2013) - 6th after 10.00 GMT L32: Liam Broady WR 188 v (2) Malek Jaziri (TUN) WR 79 (CH 69 in 2012) - 4th after 10.00 GMT
Edit: OoP details adjusted - I keep being thrown by the new "local time" version on the ATP app and doing the conversion anyway!

I agree that Marcus should focus on challenger singles shame with 10,000 futures becoming a minority event shame did not enter the singles this week but I think that was because he had not fully recovered in time . The doubles result today was a reversal of recent result against the same pair .I think Marcus is still recovering from recent illness and played slot of singles matches last week
