goddamit montana whats your secret? i can ace him 100% of the time from L1-3 and 90% of the time on L4-5. L6 is no problem and i usually finish L7 with all my men. but then L8 really f*cks me up and i crash time after time. i think its my cordless mouse. im going to buy a sh*tty conventional mouse tomorrow, then we'll see who's the boss eh?? i hate curveball. hate it i tell you. cant even get my name on the scoreboard anymore.
I play with a cordless mouse and seem to do okay.....maybe it all comes down to me and you....I can handle level 8 and you can't!!!! lol.....With level 8 you just have to be patient and he messes up. Really, don't press it else he slips one by....level 9 on the other hand patience does not work....if you want to take a life off him you have to go for it but normally he kills me for it. I find with 8 you get into the rally, try to keep things simple and after a while he will miss one.
I hope this helps....I love curveball....just wish level nine was not so difficult....it really is so hard sometimes I feel like quitting....
I've given up hope of knocking Doug off top spot, I got 340000 about a week ago but that's not even enough to make the top 10 now !!
My mouse seems to have gone a bit funny aswell so that's the end of my chances, level 8 is my downfall I only make it through about 5/20 times. I have taken two lives off L9 which is equal to Doug but my serving is light years behind him and stagger - I often don't ace L2-3 at all and so am missing out on hundreds of bonus points.
Never mind, at least I'm comfortably better than everyone at Simon Says !!!
No one seems to be able to match my score of 42 on there.
I mean to try and knock Doug off top spot on Airfox but the problem is that my attempt will have to be done in the middle of the night - it takes about 2h30min to get to 500000 !!!

i have had a go at a few of the others, moonlader was quite enjoyable once i got the hang of it, the hexangoal gmae is good too, but its quite tough i think, maybe i need to spend more time thinkign my moves, the comp always seems to do a great jump eveynow and then.
the plumber/pipes game drove me mad.

Well I don't have a killer serve, that is not how I make my points. In fact I wonder if that is why Stagger struggles against level 8 coz he serves too big and has trouble with the returns. I have found that if you serve tough against the lower levels they can hit a return which gets you in trouble. In the early rounds I hit a serve which makes them return to either corner then I normally go cross court and they are not fast enough to get there. I rack up points because it takes me a while to beat level 7, 8 & 9. Those long rallies really rack the points up.

no, i only go for the big serves between L1 and 5. once you start trying to ace him from L6 up, you are going to get into big trouble. Go for the corners on serve in the early rounds, particularly the top left, he seems to have trouble getting up there. serving aces is a little tricky but easy once you have 'the knack', just draw the mouse down slowly from top left to bottom right and click on the ball AS YOU MOVE the mouse. once you have it down, its easy to get a 100% ace rate in the first 3 levels.
Wow, congrats to Akhenaten for becoming the first person over 100000 for Pacman, amazing score !!
I look forward to the upcoming rivalry between you and Josh !!
I see that Doug has now raised the curveball leaderboard to 346000, has anyone else cracked 340000 ?
Niall seems to be setting higher and higher standards on tetris, as far as I can see - 120000 is the highest tetris score on the web. I thought you said that 30000 was pretty much a perfect game of tetris, lol You must have had plenty of that divine intervention you said you were going to need to get higher !!!
I know there is more than just me playing curveball because, as i write, the times played is 1064; the most popular game by far. I suspect that old Montana is not so obsessed with it that he has accounted for the other 1000 games, so i know some of you guys are also trying to kick his arse, or at least get your names on the leaderboard (my modest target is anything above 35k for a position of 9 or 10). I suggest we pool our resources in order to dispose Montana from the board. He has dominated for too long, it's time to teach him a lesson. I can offer great service tips, but I need to work on my court demeanour. I tend to get very impatient in rallies and go for innapropriate shots. Then I get moody and try to smash my bat into the side of the screen. Incidentally, I checked out some curveball scores, like a geek, and found out that 39,105 is the highest score anyone has got to (that I could find anyway). Montana is right up there though, the average is about 21,000
@ stagger smashing his bat into the side of the screen.
I agree with you, it's time someone knocked Doug off at least one of the places of the leaderboard !!!
I account for at least 400 of the curveball games. I've probably played about 1000 more times but often I get bored in the early rounds and lose a life and then I get angry and delete the window and start all over again. I can beat L7 and L8 without losing a life now but at L9 I end up losing all 5 lives without beating him once which is incredibly frustrating - he just doesn't miss. This means I normally end up scoring about 33K-34K.
To knock Doug off one of the places of the leaderboard all we need to do is beat L9 once. I think that Doug has discovered some different kind of spin which we don't use and that's his secret weapon.
I think we need to practise trying to hit different kinds of spin.
Hey now....easy there. I have been on vacation so it has not been me. I was shocked at how many games were played. I was nervous checking the scores just in case someone had.....the other thing is that I love a couple of games you guys don't play. I love the donkey kong game and hit an amazing score there which blew me away, then I like space invaders.
I was not going to tell you this, but I did have a score of 33,000 with three men left and had nine beat twice, but a friend came over, when he left I went back to the puter to find my wife on it and she had closed the window. I am so upset because that easily could have been my best score. If you don't believe me Stagger my wife will back me up. I was kinda ticked that she closed my window!
Also, I am frustrated because I can't beat level nine. It is so hard and I get too frustrated.
And it ain't no spin, Stagger just taught me his serve and I race through those lower levels. I use it fast up until level 8 when I slow down. To get to 39K you have to beat level nine really fast and it takes me forever to take a life off him. Nice to know Stagger is still gunning for me though, I thought you had given up, so I had seven or 8 games tonight just to keep you honest.

You must have been really gutted at that, you could have reached L10 !! Have you come that close since then ?
Congrats on your new high score of 360000. Did you beat L9 ?
By the way, I'm gunning for you at curveball aswell
I also like the Donkey Kong game, it's similar to one of the levels on the BBC's sticky wicket game which I'm quite good at. Unfortunately I suck at Donkey Kong for some reason
Space Invaders and Airfox are my other 2 favourite games. Sometime, I will conquer you at airfox, Doug, it is my destiny !!
No one has overtaken me at "Simon Says" though
P.S: Stagger, when we next discuss our ideas for knocking Doug off the leaderboard we'll have to do it via pm. Otherwise, he starts upping his game and raises the leaderboard even higher !!

Agreed. I wish I hadn't shared my serving tips in public now. It's a shame nobody else lives in montana; we could have arranged for him to have a finger 'accident'.
