RE: Week 46 - ATP World Tour Finals - London (Hard)

Think folk will cope. 3 games for Wawrinka and he's through, and they can carry on and play for the 200 points.

Still not answered how certainly at least the first two matches for folk were full of "nothing matches" ?

5-2* to Wawrinka.

So it will be Djokovic vs Nishikori and Federer vs Wawrinka.

And Andy will end the year as WR 6.

Is this perhaps the worst World Tour Finals ever? So many one sided matches and not that much quality (excluding fed and nole)

I know it's been obvious that Andy would finish 2014 as year-end GB no. 1 again since about February (or even before if you assumed he wasn't going to be out injured for most of the year) but now we are at the end of his year, at least, it's probably worth mentioning that he has now finished as year-end GB no. 1 for the 9th year in a row, overtaking Tim Henman's record for consecutive years and tying him for years finishing at GB no. 1 in total.

Take a bow. What pearl of wisdom was it?

Yes, been an awful disappointment re one sided matches. I'd agree with worst ever WTF.

But that's much more been the players' fault ( excluding Djokovic and Federer ! ) than the RR system.

I'm no general fan of RRs, but in general I don't mind it for the WTF.

They were asking people to tweet and name those who could break up the big 4.  I nominated Borna Coric as a future champion who is now ranked 89 and turns 18 today. Happy Birthday Borna.

Good choice.

Having watched a few of these 200 pointers on Sky it seems the hardest part about it is dealing with the autograph hunters afterwards. Wawrinka looked exhausted after posing for all those Selfies.

I get the impression that Jules Marie has been been someone to gain some of the most benefit from the Masters.

He's been the official sparring partner, doing about 4-5 hours a day, at the O2, at Queens etc. He says Roger's cool, a joker, just doing classic stuff. The Bryans just bombarded him with balls, not allowing him to stop to get a drink of water :) Kei was a little wierd, a whole training session and he didn't say a word - not to Jules, not to his coaches, Stan was fine, and the other doubles players too . . . all good, interesting stuff really.

Something a bit odd this year, don't you think? As much froth as tennis. Time for Kermit to apply a gentle touch to the O2 tiller or perhaps move the circus on?

Surely it would have been just the same wherever it was based? Unless it was a different surface - but then they could change the O2's surface if they wanted.

Just a bit of a bizarre year, certainly with players ( or rather their games ) not turning up for matches.

The RR system if anything should surely make players fight more for every game compared to getting a thrashing in a straight KO tournament, more particularly here with the big points and monetary rewards.

Nor, like Madeline, can I see it as the O2's fault.

In spite of the week off reintroduced before the WTF, the unprecedented scramble to get here left one or two players seemingly a bit drained. And Cilic had been injured and his game just didn't seem ready again. Plus Djokovic and Federer have been in very good form.

It's sport, strange things happen. Next year could be brilliant or not, but no script. I'm not sure that there's anything fundamentally wrong with the WTF or needing changed.

Have any young Brits been involved as hitting partners this week ? It would be a great chance to gain some experience.  I know Fitzy did that job for a couple of years.
