The last match I attended was their future SF on Edinburgh clay in May when Marcus won in 3 sets. It was an enjoyable match with the players certainly at least playing up to their then ranking, probably more. Pity that on a well appointed main court with seating for a thousand or so, it was probably witnessed by at most 30 folk at any one time.
But I would never have thought that Liam would have progressed in the way he has, just tremendous. And so good to finally see Marcus on this stage. There has seemed talk a few times about him both playing more challengers and playing in the USA. The combination seems to be good for him.
Is Broady getting near the top 10 for coolest players on the tour? and willis the most eccentric top10? Great fun following them both this week and brilliant to see them both making such giant strides.
It's great to be witnessing the rise in GB men's tennis - Shame no commentary but potentially a cracking match .

It's hard to not like Marcus, isn't it? Almost an infectious personality.
I like what he's saying about his plans. He's clearly more focused on singles (which is reassuring, as the way Mr Lewis has been talking I was concerned at times that they were more focused on doubles), and he does intend to lose a bit of weight. The thing is, he's clearly so talented, it just makes you wonder how good he would be if he got himself into a top physical shape.
It's been a real insight into Mr Willis this week, as one who's never seem him play before or known much about him asides from Gary's snippets on here. It would be great to see him in these tournaments (and above) much more often, as he is a fun player to watch and has a very nice game.
I agree about the comments for Marcus. His game is absolutely fantastic and a bit of a nightmare for anyone to play against...even if you can deal with his serve the trips to net and stunning volleys must make getting a rhythm really hard.
I hope for a good match with Liam. Its really impossible to cheer for either, shame they werent in different quarters.
I am very pleased to hear about Marcus's intended singles focus.
He is clearly a talented doubles player, how potentially good I hear different assessments. But to my mind he can at least make the top 200 singles within the next year or two with his upper limit to be explored. In that situation, it should surely be the priority to be all he can be in singles. If he can play doubles in consort, fair enough, but if and when doubles gets in the way it should be the doubles that gets ditched that week, that month or longer.
He is still a young man and doubles is something he could most certainly come to focus much more on if and when he has given himself every chance to make a good singles career.
As for today, I lean to wanting Marcus to win. But certainly very pleased to see either through to the SF and the other a QFist.
I'd be very interested to see what schedule Marcus is planning for the next few months.
He's playing next week and then a couple of week's training(according to Marcus). Out to Doha in December or hunting around for nice 15k's or is it end of season and start again in Jan?

Good points.
I liked the Santoro comparison from someone too, for Marcus - the game most certainly needs some different characters, and Marcus is great. You can see the interviewer loves interviewing him. As to it being a shame they're in the same quarter, a few months ago it would have been SO amazing to have thought of them both being anywhere near the QF of a Challenger that I'd take it happily !
Love what Marcus has done this week, but in his own admission, conditions this week have suited his game, so maybe it is too much to expect this type of level every week.
However when you've got Marcus's talent he has the potential to improve his game and with improved fitness, this time next year he'd be the type of guy who would be favourite to win this type of event, no need to play 3 sets, get it done in straights !!
It's all good i am keen to continue to help Marcus but with a focus on challengers and higher ranked tournaments and to help realise every british players dream of playing in Wimbledon Maindraw with the home crowd and progressing in the tournament be great .
