Good lad Marcus, sure you're working hard to get where you need to be. Serve well today and you've got a great chance. All the best!

Apologies Marcus if you didn't agree with that - that was just the impression I got from watching the last set. He seemed to get to 40 and then pegged back and it seemed to happen for most of the last set. I know it will be a mixture of you stepping up at the time and him dropping his levels.

It's all about opinions. Don't read too much into it.

I'm pleased you won and will be cheering you on later tonight. Good luck.

I think its fantastic that a player is engaging with fans in this way. Marcus has said what he believes without being disprespectful to posters and posters get to show their support and Marcus gets to see that.

It would be interesting to know how many players actually look at the forum!

Good to luck to Marcus in the 1st round, all credit to you for coming on here and posting.

From what I have heard, quite a lot of them do, as do their families and coaches etc.   Marcus isn't the 1st player to post here as I am sure you are aware and I also think it is great that he does.

It would be good to see others post as well, but I understand why they may choose not to post.

I think it's great to see the player's opinions, really gives a different perspective on things.

I also wonder how many of the guys read this site. Obviously Fitzy has posted on here in the past and I believe Jonny O'Mara's dad (?) has posted before, as well as someone who is on good terms with Neil. Brings it home a little bit that these are just normal guys with a little bit of talent trying to make their way in a tough sport.

I think it's important to any who do see any criticism or anything with negative connotations that everyone on this site supports them and just wants the best for them, and any criticism is usually constructive or just a general observation that may or may not be on the mark. In other words - don't take it personally.

Best of luck to those playing today.

On a sidenote, I hope that when some of these guys are out in unfamiliar territories playing in front of one man and his dog, they are aware that there are still us out here rooting for them and following every match, and sometimes every point!

Liam has won 7 out of 8 points on his opponent's second serve. That's going after someone!

Liam wins the first set 6-2, not watching yet, but seems to be destroying the second serve judging by the stats.

Liam looking very solid. Great stats on the Bangoura 2nd serve, but in truth, it is asking to be hit and Liam is just obliging. Can't do more than that though.

Duckworth has just retired at 7-6, 0-3 against Russell, so no rematch for Liam if he can get through this one. Currently 2-1* in the second.

Michael Russell has won by retirement. It seems it was one match too many for Jack Duckworth, but I didn't see what happened.

Did you see this?  Was any reason given?

Sadly not, just noticed it on my livescores at presumably the same moment as you!

Just realised it means that Marcus is on next.

Liam breaks for the match and lets out a huge 'CMON!'. :) 6-2, 6-4.
