I'm a bit lost here, though really just semi skimmed.

You can never underestimate the value of confidence in sport, and what a turnaround from their last meeting. Shame Kyle has to face the Milkman next, but he is a very good yardstick, who is playing close to top 100 tennis at his best. If Kyle can beat him, we will 100% know he is back to his best.

Quite helpful having Bob in Brazil to give us live in running commentary for these early hour matches.

 Indeed - thanks!

You're both welcome.  As long as they keep sticking Kyle and Wardy up 1st (or maybe 2nd) I will try and keep the reports coming. Anything after that, I'm afraid my beauty sleep will take precedent.

Are you in Brazil during Australian Open time, Bob ?

Or how about in Australia :)

Brazil is a strong possibility, although it may clash with carnaval time here. If that is the case, it will be impossible to get any work done so I may get back to Spain for a week or two.

Sadly Australia is out of the question.

All too easy for Wardy so far but still early stages.

3-0*

Wardy looking very relaxed and serving well. Two love service games so far.

Make that *4-0. Thompson has only won 3 points so far.

Another love service game. 5-0* This is all too easy. Not complaining though. Another 20 mins like this and I can have an early night.

A bit more aggresive from Thompson there and a couple of big serves and he is on the board.

*5-1

Wow, Yet another love game for Wardy and with it the 1st set 6-1

4 service games played. 16 points won. 0 points lost. 75% 1st serve percentage as well. Can't ask much more than that.

Two DFs from Thompson in the opening game of the second and Wardy breaks to 15.

6-1 *1-0

Great stuff from Wardy, but in truth, he is not being made to work very hard at all.

Maybe there is a reason for that. Thompson retires.

Wardy wins 6-1 1-0 retired.

Didn't see any obvious signs of injury but the way he was playing, I am not surprised it finished this way.

PS. Total match time up to the retirement was just 21 mins.
