Very good win and great that it appears to be because Kyle really had his mojo back. Onward...

Great result good to see, coaching is obviously overrated! Really pleased for Kyle but less so the potential return of the milkman who has caused me no end of problems in the past. I blame the paradox that is predictive texting ( on my I phone) that said I am hopeful Kyle will ferment his improvement and make yoghurt out of him.

No need as Kyle breaks again to seal an emphatic 6-2 6-2 win. That was as good as it gets. Kyle controlled the match from start to finish as much as he controlled the majority of the rallies.

Most important of all, no stress for Bob  smilesmilesmile

On to the QFs.

That must've been a relief !

Saw the first set - looked in hand. All good smile

A good win in the doubles for Brydan and Dane:

QF: Brydan Klein & Dane Propoggia (AUS) CR 444 (235+209) def. (3) Gong Mao-Xin & Peng Hsien-Yin (CHN/TPE) CR 272 (160+112) 6-2 6-4

They play Bolt & Whittington in the semis.

Great win for Kyle, good to see him stringing a couple of wins together again.

Millman's another big step up but there's no reason Kyle can't beat him if he's on form.

QF: Kyle Edmund WR 246 v John Millman (AUS) WR 278 (CH 126 in 2013)

Millman has beaten Brits in his last two Challengers (Liam in Tiburon on his way to the final and Brydan last week) and took a set off Andy in Brisbane last year.

Well done, Kyle. Hmmm. I wonder if Greg was acually hindering him rather than helping, or if it is just coincidence?

For the record:

SF: Brydan Klein & Dane Propoggia (AUS) CR 444 (235+209) vs (2) Alex Bolt & Andrew Whittington (AUS/AUS) CR 221 (110+111)

Now there's the 64.000 dollar question.

I wonder if Kyle might get offered and accept a chance to train with Andy and co again this close season. I understand that this was very unlikely while Greg was Kyle's coach, at least certainly if Greg might have been around.

With the other seed knocked out in Kyle's section, his next opponent will probably be John Millman (note spelling!) who plays Chinese qualifier, Yan Bai, in R2. As we know, he is a very good player and under-ranked. So if Millman gets through, it is not going to be an easy QF for Kyle. But it is a Challenger, so it isn't meant to be easy.

He's still the milkman to us and I sure the old puns will be out in force when he plays the QF

I actually asked myself at the time, if the timing of the sacking was organised exactly to facilitate this. Had Kyle left it to the end of the season, which may have been more logical, the arrangements for off season may have already been set in stone.

I actually think these puns are all turning a bit sour now.  no
